About

Finding a washroom shouldn't be this hard.

If you've ever walked into a mall just to use the loo, or held it through a long drive because you had no idea where the next decent stop was, you already get why this exists.

Washrooms is a free map of public washrooms across India. Metro stations, petrol pumps, malls, markets, the lot. Open it and you'll see what's close by, whether it's free, when it's open, and what people who've actually been there thought of it.

Right now there are 47,000+ washrooms on the map, and it keeps growing.

How it works

Pick a washroom, tap directions, and Google Maps takes it from there. Once you're done, leave a quick rating: was it clean, was there water, how did it smell. It takes about ten seconds, and it's the whole reason the next person knows what they're walking into.

Know one we're missing? Add it. A real person checks every new listing before it shows up.

A few things we won't do

  • Sell your data. We keep only what the app needs and there are no ad trackers. You can ask to see, fix or delete anything we have on you, which is also your right under India's DPDP Act, 2023.
  • Pretend ratings are official. They're opinions from people who've been there, and places change. Double-check fees and timings when you get there.
  • Let reports slide. If something's wrong with a listing, flag it and someone will look at it.

Who's behind it

Washrooms is a small, independent project built in India. It isn't linked to any government body, facility operator or map company.

If you'd like to help, the easiest ways are adding a washroom you know or rating one you've used. And if you want to chip in to keep it running, that helps a lot too. Curious where it's headed? Here's our launch page.
